Who we are
MDP Marine Surveyors & Consultants - legal name MDP Marine B.V. - is an all-round independent, qualified & certified marine surveying and consultancy company based in Curaçao, Dutch Caribbean, established in 2019. The company’s foundation is based on over fifteen years of experience in the marine industry, along with a solid educational background of its founder and Managing Director Maurits D. P. Winkel.
With a degree in Naval Architecture (BEng) and Industrial Management (BEng), and with a Diploma in Marine Surveying, he has worked for several renowned marine companies as Operations Manager for more than 12 years.
During this period, while working together with highly skilled and trained experienced professionals, varying from Classification, Flag State and Insurance surveyors to project managers, technical personnel and sea going crew, he has had a very steep learning curve, leading to significant experience and successful completion of many projects, and a large network of marine professionals.
What we do
At MDP Marine Surveyors & Consultants we provide surveying services to ships of all types and sizes, marine structures and shore side facilities, (technical) consulting services, owner representation and superintendent services, third party witness and expert witness roles, project management and organizational support. MDP Marine Surveyors & Consultants can provide service onshore, offshore / onboard or in office.
We also provide survey and examination of lifting appliances for all types of land-based and offshore / ship cranes as well as rigging and towing gear.
As independent marine surveyors we are able to provide our services to a wide range of clients.
Our services can benefit marine companies and operations, ship owners, Hull and Machinery Underwriters (H&M), Protection & Indemnity (P&I Clubs), insurance companies, port operators and agents, maritime authorities, private owners, shipbrokers and solicitors.
As the marine industry is a very dynamic environment, where constant change and development are a fact, MDP Marine Surveyors & Consultants provide a flexible service and are able to adapt quickly to the client’s needs and provide practical solutions with a hands-on and no-nonsense mentality.
Achievements
Multiple towing operations, marine transportation projects, civil and offshore construction projects, heavy lifting and load out operations, fleet renewal and expansion projects, ship repair, successful handling of marine insurance claims, implementation of ISO 9001/14001 standards and the ISM Code, and company re-organization processes.
Maurits is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects (RINA) and a member of The Society of Consulting Marine Engineers and Ship Surveyors (SCMS) and The International Institute of Marine Surveying (IIMS).
