Major overhaul thrusters

APRIL 2021

During the docking survey of this tug, her offshore type thrusters received a major overhaul. MDP Marine Surveyors & Consultants provided superintendent services during this project. The tug received a major refit during this docking.

MDP Marine Surveyors & Consultants provided superintendent services to a Canadian tug company during dry-docking (special survey) of one of their tugs, which operates in the Port of Kingston, Jamaica.


Condition survey

FEBRUARY 2021

MDP Marine Surveyors & Consultants performed a Condition Survey for prospective buyers of an OSV vessel, laid-up in a cluster of several vessels in the Port of Willemstad.

During project mobilization by a marine contractor MDP Marine Surveyors & Consultants was called upon last minute to perform several equipment inspections before departure from the Port of Willemstad.


Tow approval survey amidst COVID-19 pandemic

Due to the global COVID-19 pandemic we have seen an increase of survey requests for international clients due to the limited travel options and restrictions. One great example is when MDP Marine Surveyors & Consultants was elected to perform the Tow Approval Survey for a tanker that had previously sustained considerable bottom damage after grounding.


Port risk assessment drillship

Another successful Port Risk Assessment performed on a drillship amidst the COVID-19 pandemic by MDP Marine Surveyors & Consultants for insurance underwriters. The drillship had been cold stacked in the Port of Caracas Bay, Curaçao for several years.

MDP Marine Surveyors & Consultants was called upon to provide guidance and supervision during discharging of a crew boat from a cargo vessel in the Port of Willemstad. The crew boat was discharged using the ship’s cargo cranes.

MDP Marine Surveyors & Consultants recently acted as owner’s representative for a local tug company during a dry-docking project of one of their harbor tugs. Budgets were tight and a sharp planning was successfully maintained in order for the tug to resume its harbor duties in the Port of Willemstad.


Loading of a work boat destined for Leeward Islands

For a Dutch marine contractor operating in the Caribbean region MDP Marine Surveyors & Consultants was engaged to plan, coordinate and oversee the loading operation of a workboat onto the deck of one of their other vessels. Efficient coordination between all parties allowed for the transport to depart the Port of Willemstad in less than 48 hours from arrival, including loading, sea fastening and even bunkering.


Reflagging of a workboat for new owners in The Netherlands

For a Dutch marine contractor we handled the reflagging process as the new owners decided to change flag. MDP Marine Surveyors & Consultants coordinated between the relevant parties and insured that all requirements were complied with, amongst which installation of the new registration number in accordance with the Rotterdam Shipping Register instructions.


Condition survey followed by towing survey for client in Trinidad & Tobago

NOVEMBER 2019

MDP Marine Surveyors & Consultants performed a Condition Survey for prospective buyers of a crane barge. The crane barge was thoroughly surveyed and examined in the presence of representatives from the prospective buyers. The successful survey was followed by a deal between sellers and buyers and MDP Marine Surveyors & Consultants had the opportunity to perform a Towing Survey for towage to the new owner’s company base in Trinidad & Tobago.


Large steering gear repair of single screw tug for client in Martinique

OCTOBER 2019

A ship owner and tug operator in Martinique engaged MDP Marine Surveyors & Consultants for our owner representation services for dry-docking of one of their tugs. The vessel had sustained serious damage to her steering gear and needed repairs. The entire steering gear system was disassembled, thoroughly examined, measured, repaired as necessary and reassembled afterwards. MDP Marine Surveyors & Consultants successfully managed this interesting project - whereby several critical parts had to be fabricated from scratch - from start to finish.


Witness offshore crane inspection for owners in Trinidad & Tobago

MDP Marine Surveyors & Consultants was engaged by the owners of an offshore crane barge for our third party witness service, to witness and report on a comprehensive two-day crane inspection, including load testing in the Port of Willemstad by a recognized crane inspection company from Europe.
